Course: Missile System Fundamentals
Attendees must hold and provide proof of U.S. citizenship (No Exceptions).

More than ever before, precision, lethality, and versatility are indispensable instruments of modern warfare. This course equips students with a foundational vocabulary and working knowledge of missile systems, technologies, issues, and problem-solving resources. Short in-class team exercises are used to illustrate key concepts of requirements development, operations, and risk assessment. The course is designed for people in project management offices, RDECOM, SMDC, and the prime contractor community who seek an introduction to or broadening of practical working knowledge.

    Topics Include:
  • History, operational environments, and applications
  • Integration of key supporting disciplines
  • Major missile "tip to tail" components
  • Technical, operational, and cost evaluation
  • Missile ground systems and integration

    You will gain a "toolkit" with which you can:
  • Appreciate the role of missile systems - past, present, and future
  • Know the language of missile systems
  • Understand the components of missile systems - their function and setting
  • Identify tradeoffs between technology "reach", cost, and performance
  • Balance system performance assessments using combinations of analysis, simulation, & test
  • Understand the current capabilities and limitations of missile technology
  • Have a network of people from whom you can find help in the future
  • Feel confident working with experts, and be prepared to identify and ask the necessary questions
